Sometimes I think it wouldn't have actually been a bad thing if the ugly XM III had been brought to market, because at the very least we could be using them to harvest useful features such as these mirrors, for earlier cars.

 Very true, good point. That thing was horrendous to behold!

It really was awful, I'm sure its even worse to a professional designer like you Russ, the stuff of nightmares!

I don't think it has one redeeming feature. It was one hell of a way to trash a really smart and contemporary piece of design.
Thank goodness it stayed as a styling excercise.

Ciarán, there's no trace of the switch in the parts database, so I don't think it existed. It was probably planned, though.

Really nice electric flap covering the stereo. Mr Noon was very envious!!
Mustn't forget the electric aerial too!

I tested out the Clarion CD changer I bought at the X rally and it works with the 605 head unit! Now I just need to lay the cable...

The 605 is definitely an interesting car but there still isn't really much of a following for them so numbers are still dwindling. This one is a credit to its previous owners and is in excellent condition inside and out. The mileage is only 87,000 too. Unless I was offered a lot of money I can't see myself parting with it.
