W Reg. Broken down !!

Post by onthecut » Fri Jan 22, 2010 4:04 pm

M6 Northbound just topside of Corley Services, very nice looking red W reg hatch on the hard shoulder, today abt. 3.15. Unfortunately I was a passenger in son's motor and he was in a tearing hurry for an appointment, so no chance to stop and offer help. I do hope it isn't one of the many many ££££££ motors from a certain Ebay source ---- think I'd be a bit cheesed off if I'd paid (relatively) huge pennies and it went bang.

Bet it was an auto without forward moving gears!

You missed your chance there, could've offered him a lift and offered him £50 quid whilst taking him home!

wont be the box Andrew, they dont usualy fail in gear, you have to stop or move the gear lever to get them to give up, not heard of one failing on the move.

The 91 2.0Sei I inherited from my pal lost 3rd altogether and then struggled to hold 2nd and drives
poorly with high revs and is totally unusable above 20mph so not a good thing on a motorway. Likely
a failed battery/alternator as they do or even a goosed HG as the M6 is largely all snarled up and
moving at a snail's pace? Certainly around Brum.

That 2.0 sounds like the regulator has gone, like Les's one did, not too bad a fix at all really.
I am waiting for a mint 12v V6 with a dead box that the owner thinks is not worth repairing to come up for peanuts ;)

My pal had one with only working reverse gear that I offered on the old forum for him with no takers!
Very smart 90k miles Burgundy 1990 SEi too.

Some Gippo's stole it from outside my pal's house in a private field during the daytime when he was at work
and were caught red handed with it as they were stopped for having an insecure load which matched the
description made by a neighbour who knew the car wasn't being scrapped. Police impounded the car as evidence
and as is the way with things they do these days presented my pal with a recovery and storage bill higher than
the value of the now Hiab damaged car so they were told to weigh it in!!! :o

I wouldn't care, the body was very straight, the engine was gorgeous and the boot was full of Xm driveshafts
hubs and struts off a few scrapped Xm's... :?

It was originally offered at any price and likely yours for £100!!

yep i would of loved something like that if the body way tidy but i dont remember it coming up, could have been before my time????, shame isnt it, and the police are bigger thieves than the scum that hiabed the car away in the first place in my view
