Black Xm on M8 going East today!

Post by Aerodynamica » Sun Apr 11, 2010 10:55 pm

At about 11.30am this morning I saw a black XM with what looked like HID headlights on the M8 motorway just before the Kingston Bridge and traveling eastward.

Anyone on here? I was traveling in the opposite direction in a van so only saw the XM for 2 seconds.

Looked quite a good one.

Aerodynamica! *Must* have been me....time was nearer to 11am though! Always driving with my HIDs ON (Sweden-style)!

At *last* I've been spotted  Not reading the Spotted section anymore as all spottings happen Southwards!! :x

As it happens, today *I* also spotted another XM in Glasgow, and it was....my indy in his emerald estate!

The most surprising is that there seem to be 2-3 XMs I regularly see around the Kilmarnock area :o (population of Kilm.+all villages around: not more than 100,000). In the 5 years I lived in Glasgow, I only new of 1 XM -black, S1, 2lt n/a, full-moon trims, West End area, driven by a lady-. My friends always reported to me whenever they spotted this car

Another morning, I crossed paths with David H., driving his very own XM with his dad. We came to be driving next to each other for 1 minute or so! How rare is that -David is not a Glasgow resident-.

cheers

Hey George,

I wondered that it may have been you - in fact it's only now that I recall one day about 3-4 years ago I was traveling on my bike along argyll street going west from a bridge over the M8 - towards the police station, PC world and Mr Harper's. I was flanked by a black XM with non-UK plates and with some graphics attached to the door in gray I think - could this also have been you?

Anyway, I also used to see the black XM driven by a lady around the west end - it was parked on Wilton street. It was an 'Onyx' version but suddenly disappeared about 2 years ago.

Well, on Sunday - your Xm looked really good driving with its HIDs - It could have passed for a new car.

Glad to have spotted you :D

Aerodynamica

You have the memory of an elephant!!!! Yes it was again me, but it was not 3-4 years ago, it has to have been October 2004, this is when this black V6 came from Germany, you have actually spotted me in its 1st week of life in the UK!!

The grey stickers were the company logos of the previous owner -a small firm doing home heating systems-, they had owned it for 1 year after the 1st owner. They told me: "brilliant car but consumes too much-. Obviously not the ideal car for this role!

Back then, although 10 years old+135k, this XM was in *like new* condition, inside out and up and down. Now it's full of scratches all around, the work of people from all walks of life and all ages, from Glasgow and Kilmarnock. I'll offer it a nice respray at some point of time, because it's worth it, but not a priority at all now.

That's the car btw:

Still, u r right that a black XM is an impressive silhouette from a distance.

The other guy I seem to have been seeing regularly in Glasgow, around the West End area, must be Gordon P. (from XM-L), but in a silver or white/cream CX, not an XM. I'm just guessing it's him. Could have been you maybe?

cheers

If it's a series 1 CX in silver, it'll be Steve Hollingsworth - he used to live just off West Princes street but now lives in the East end in Dennistoun.

I think Gordon P has a white or silver Series 2 CX but I've not seen him for a long time.

As for me! My CX is a fairly early series 1, a 1977 CX Pallas C-Matic in light metallic blue. Keep a look out for me!! (I'll be at Harper's garage on this Saturday coming to do some work on it if he is going to be there)

Anyway, it was a joy to spot your car - looked stealth-like in black with those lights.

Okay, I'll keep an eye for your blue CX. One can't miss it I guess, even if he tried!!

I think unfortunately you'll find Graham won't be in this Sat -ring the boys to find out why-. I also need to do some height-set up work on my 21td, but it'll have to wait till he's back.

cheers

I've been XM less for a while now so nobody would of seen me out and about.

My daily car at the moment is a 2007 C6 Exclusive in Storm Grey.

That day I travelled in front of George through the Clyde tunnel in my Series 1 24v. I was on my way to work and dropping my dad off at Yorkhill on the way. Although I don't live in Glasgow I have the misfortune of working there daily.

I'm soon to be getting a new XM as it's between Port Klang in Malaysia and Grangemouth at the moment.

It's a W reg series 2 24v in Silver, one owner from new, 49k miles etc, it's in showroom condition. This one won't be getting driven very often and will be kept garaged and will wear the number plate V6 XME when it returns to the UK.

Off Topic: Does anyone know of anybody who is any good at welding replacement cills into XM's? My Series 1 24v is desperate :(

David.
