Why would someone want to steal an XM?

Joyriders? :?

Sorry to hear you lost your car Oli.

Hope you had it insured.

Presumably a 16v?

So they got past the alarm and immobiliser?

I'm very surprised to hear that an XM got stolen :o

Broken into, vandalised maybe.....but stolen....?

I know... I'm amazed that they were able to get it started... Sometimes that defeats me and I still have the key!

It wasn't lifted by a hiab or something like that by cowboy scrap metal merchants?

If it's your car that's been lifted I fully sympathise as I know exactly
how you must now feel; in the past 6 months/year I've had x2 cars and
years and years worth of unique (rockin orse poo is more common)
Cit bits lifted into the ether - unfortunately I'm afraid to
say destined
to a scrap merchant who doesn't ask awkward questions... :(

Bastards, every last one of em! I really hope there's a
happy ending to this story. :?

I didn't think from the mail that it was his car otherwise I would have been a bit more sympathetic. Who, other than someone on here would want an XM? unless it was a joyrider. Not the sort of car you could make any money on, and anyone who really appreciated them I wouldn't have thought to be the type to steal one.

Peter :?

I think it was his going by this quote below from THIS thread.

Also from the thread Re:- 'S2 indicator problems' as in THIS thread !

Very sorry to hear about your XM Oli, surprising to see one being stolen, but it definitely does happen sadly.

Where I live, opportunist joyriders are a persistent problem, and will steal anything they can get their hands on, in particular older cars now as the new ones are so difficult to steal. Every XM I have gets fitted with a 3rd party alarm and good, solid Stoplock, for that very reason. People think I'm nuts and say 'Why are you going to all that hassle, its only an old car?'. But to me, and I'm sure everyone here, an XM is worth much more than the sum of it's parts.

I hope it turns up in one piece Oli, truly sickening.
