Rare C6 sighting!

Post by kenhall » Fri Jul 10, 2009 8:31 pm

Rare in my part of the world anyway.
Today at about 11am a C6 ambling along at 65-70 on the M6 / M74 twixt Carlisle and Gretna with personalised plate C6 FFF. Had only seen one at the local dealer's showroom previously.

Hi Dean.

There are three sitting at Measham (HDi 2.7) at the moment and one at Bridgwater. One with just over 3k miles, the others just under 11k. All 57 plate, guide price between £15800 and £16550. Still demo or factory reg. ones trickling out, I guess.

I saw one last week. It drove past me the opposite way. I was very surprised. It's only the second one I've seen on the road.

That's because they have the exact same top speed as the 2.7HDi, are half a second slower getting to 60 than the 2.7HDi, and are about 10mpg thirstier to do it. I can quite understand that people would rather the HDi than the petrol. You know you want a Diesel really... :P

Interestingly Citroen's UK site no longer lists the petrol C6, just the 2.2 and 2.7 HDis.

Precisely! Diesel Technology has come so far in such a TINY amount of time, the DERV engines are on a Par with Petrol engines and do a better MPG... and SOOOOO much more relaxing and refined...

Mind you, the petrols are probably autos so theres no need to worry about gear changing! Oh and the ROAD TAX is cheaper too, although, the 2.7 HDi is not th echeapest, seeing as it is REALLY mostly a Ford design AND is built at the Ford factory... Sorry, but its true, Peugeot designed AND make ALL the Four Cylinder HDi's, and its Ford who wholely made the 2.7...

Id still have the HDi any day though... probably even the 2.2 for the cheaper tax...

Are you 100% certain about that Paul. I've read in the press that the HDi V6 engine seen in the Jags
and Range Rovers is pure Citroen Peugeot - what you're saying sounds like a bit of clever spin by Ford;
come on, when did Ford ever make a decent diesel engine and who's been making the best TD engines
for ever and ever too...

I don't care - I still like petrol engined cars - the more cc the better too. Wait until you get behind
that v6 engine Paul!
