I look forward to buying the haynes manual for that....

It took them long enough to make one for the C5, so I wouldn't be holding out for one on the C6, although they do share common parts.

Mind, didn't the owners of the Traction similarly speak disparagingly about the new Ds arrival,
ditto the Ds owners of the Cx and the Cx owners of the Xm...? :D

Won't the new Haynes FOR ANY CAR now only have about 1 chapter largely related to changing
wiper blades and putting the correct amount of air in the tyres and fluid in the washer bottle?
(and they'll be 5 spanner difficulty too probably  )

That's true Andrew,

But the C6 really is a big step ahead of the XM, granted the CX was a step ahead of the DS etc etc, but they weren't revolutionarily different. There is a car missing between the XM and C6, so there is a massive jump, no real progression.

As for Haynes, it will soon be a case of "All operations should be entrusted to a Citroen Dealership".

Why will it.? The car still has all the usual functions, just electronically controlled instead of mechanically controlled. There is no reason why the Citroen CAN systems should be unreliable.

One will need to adapt their fault finding habits to thinking electrical as opposed to mechanical, but at least it's OBD2 and readers are available and cheap.

Having said that, of course the HDi lumps aren't going to be anywhere near as reliable as XUD long term.

I saw an 09reg C6 the other day, in black too, looked stunning.

I doubt if the C6 can be compared to the Xm really, they are so many years apart.

However i dont think the C5 compares to the Xm, i much prefer the Xm as a car to the C5, cant say ive been all that impressed. The C5 is nice, but there is nothing to it, its a good car but its not a car which grabs you and makes you want to just go out for a drive. I love driving the XMs, feels like an occasion. 8-)

Chris, you should've tried going the other direction in time with that 3grand in your hand and bought a
minter CX, not a C5! The way you aptly describe the difference between the Xm and a C5 - it's how I
feel about a CX - it feels even more of an occasion to an Xm (as great as that feels!!).

Behave Andrew! I've lately been having dangerous cravings for a series 1 (preferably flat arch) CX. It has been a while since I picked up the welder I guess
