Not an XM or even a Citroen but I could not resist taking a snap of this funny little thing earlier today and posting up. Regards, Matthew T.

I have now identified the car as a Toyota Sera of which the 'gull wing' doors are certainly a distinctive feature. According to Wikipedia the model was not officially exported from Japan that confirms my feeling that it is something exotic! I saw the elderly couple owners climbing out which was quite a weird sight. Regards, Matthew T.

The car was also made between 1990-1995 and therefore is an almost exact contemporary of the XM! The owners club is based in Norfolk by a strange coincidence. Regards, Matthew T.

I've heard of the Sera before. Who says Toyota only make boring cars?
It looks like the headlamps need a good wet sanding and polishing, UV has caused the coating to go cloudy.

The difference between the Sera you sw and an XM is that the Sera will have been on the road every day and not had anything done to it other than routine maintenance.

Who would want that?

One of the tech guys at Cov uni had one. Used to see it parked out the back of the design block workshops. It's a great thing.

Not sure about this, it might be a kei car??. My other fav is the Mazda Autozam AZ1. That is a Kei car.

The Sera is not a kei car. It's equipped with a 1.5 ltr engine that delivers 110 horsepower. Wheelbase 2.3m, width 1.65m, length 3.86m, height 1.26m. But have a look here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Sera" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

It's a Starlet in a fancy frock with a Corolla engine.

Nice little 2 door, sport-coupe.

I think the Sera [owners] would be offended. :)

That suggests it has something in common with the Mk1 MR2 - the engine for that was lifted from the Corolla twin cam that was so popular, and they sold more with the T bar roof than hard top or sunroof models iirc. But the mk2, released in 1990, was bigger and got the bigger engines that also went in the Celica, Carina, Rav4etc. Being front engined, front wheel drive, I'm not suggesting this was a spiritual successor though. Possibly intended as direct competition to Nissan's 100NX...
