Hello, that was me! I don't use the XM much but since January I've been back and forth between Wimborne, Dorchester and Bridport a few times.

The car is a 1995 XM Exclusive TD.

My husband died almost 2 years ago and the XM was his car. He absolutely loved it, rarely took it out in the rain, and polished it to within an inch of its life! In my more rational moments I know I should sell it, but I have a huge sentimental attachment to it and lots of happy memories. I think it is a superb car for long journeys but a menace to park, and as trips to the supermarket seem to comprise most of my car usage now, not terribly practical.

The MOT, tax and insurance are due at the end of this month and I came to this website with a view to finding out what the market for XM's is like, or if there is one. If I do sell the car I would want it to be to someone who would appreciate it, and this seemed like a good place to start. Do you have any advice?

It was lovely to see. Not often I pass another on the road.

If you ever are in Bridport and fancy a chat/advice and a cuppa I'm on the St Michael's estate.
I'll send you my phone number.

Drive it more, you will find it shrinks around you. Supermarket car parks should pose no problem for an XM as parking an XM is easy due to the all round visibility being great due to the continuous glass.

Regarding selling it, condition is everything with an XM, so make sure it doesn't run out of MOT, otherwise it would only go to a nutter/idiot/hard core fan, as a fixer upper.

Emerald is a great colour for an Xm, is it manual or auto, what mileage does it have on?

Nice Xm are now fetching decent money, most of the poor condition ones have gone and there is definitely stronger interest than a few years ago.

If it isn't rusty and causing any issues, just sell your other car and waft around in style.

Hi Janbie, welcome to the forum

I'm only just down the road at Charmouth, haven't seen your car yet but am often on the A35. I ran diesel XM estates for 15 years or more but my last one fell to pieces with rust I'm afraid. I will keep a look out. Sorry about your husband.
