Ah OK. Shame of the body damage. . Remove the oil filler and look in side.. I've posted on previous page the difference between good and bad rocker gear..

Thanks for uploading photos of the engines Paul that I was going to do myself! As you will note the early engine rockers are grey (aluminium) and later orange (steel with oil staining). As already mentioned both my 24v engines have steel rockers and hence are still alive and kicking after 120K! The only car we know that broke the rules was David Hallworth's Green 'J' Plate, which somehow survived past 100K. Best regards, Matthew T.

Yes we did indeed check Paul and both engines have orange (steel) rocker gear as mentioned above and are therefore later engines. With regards, Matthew T.

Ah apologies in my understanding Mathew. When you said steel rockers i assumed early rockers because I was lead to beleve the modified setup was actually ceramic and not steel ones..

That is no problem Paul and I just poached some photos from Darren's earlier thread showing my spare engine and failed steel followers and later ceramic fittings with the orange steel rockers showing alongside. With regards, Matthew T.
