Onyx green XM!

Had to do a double-take yesterday, while taking a small roundabout in Caleta/Torre del Mar.
As I went round it, coming the other way was one of these...

Onyx (Vert Amandier) ERH
Youngish couple in the front seats, looking decidedly in sunny weather mode.
No chance to stop, unfortunately.

XM sightings here are now one per year, or less.

Lovely colour but, as much as I like those trims, I don't think they suit the XM.

BX, CX or GS but not the XM unfortunately.

^^Were you also in an Xm?

^ I agree regarding the trims...too plain.
They were used on very basic versions, which we didn't have on the Uk spec. list.

Unfortunately no; was on the way back from a supermarket and in the RAV4 - otherwise I would have gone into polite pursuit!
I think a pair of XMs down here would have constituted some sort of notifiable incident.

I am sorry to disagree chaps but I really love those wheel trims and of course they suit the car as they are elegant and understated! As most of you will know, they also appeared on prototype models before any other design was even thought about, but were then inexplicably relegated to continental base spec.!

Just to out number Mathew a bit more. I too don't like them. I don't like full wheel covers in general without any breathing slats.. they don't give brakes enough cooling air.. and with a car that does more braking on the front I think cooling is an important thing..

Like the "bowling ball " trims we got in the UK.. no air flow gaps..

+1 for finding those trims a bit too bare. Sorry Matthew! But for me, they jar as much as the first Sierra wheel trims. They make me feel that the car is lacking detail - i guess I've seen too many design sketches and clay mock ups that aren't real cars

I am sorry too Julian as I still love the wheel trims and I think the level of detail is spot on! The effect is especially pleasing when everything lines up as in the last photo :) With regards, Matthew T.

That last pic does bring out the 'otherworldness' of the XM - so at odds with everything else in that car park - it could be from the future (it sort of was at the time of release) or has just been moved out of the back lot at Shepperton in between shooting of UFO (circa 1970)

That is very well put Julian and I could not agree more with your sentiments and I think the wheel trims certainly help!! With regards, Matthew T.
