G'day all!. I have been posting "all over the place" of late & just realised that it makes following a bit painful...So I will stick it all here, like others have done.

On one of my other posts I was enquiring about what colour my car might be, not having a colour code to go off. We sorta guessed at "silicon grey", but having some of that mixed up, that is "too green", so maybe Matthew was right with his first suggestion of "Meteor Grey", though looking at the photo of his car that he posted, it looks too blue, but that could be just the photo. Now I have done a bit more searching on here & John had posted up the XM colours for 89/90/91 & Silicone Grey Isn't among them, though Meteor grey is.. Now, looking at the colour sheet that Russ done & Matthew posted up, I would say my colour is Mercury..But that wasn't available in 1990.. More searching under mercury reveals very tall Brad's car, which looks like mine..

And some photo's of mine..

Goodness it's hard..Mine looks different in those two photo's...

I think I will have to get some of each mixed up to see!

No, I have changed my mind..I feel confident it is Meteor Grey.. Matthew, I have looked at some more photo's of your car & that looks right..And Meteor Grey was available in 9/90 when my car was built, unlike Mercury.

We'll see huh!

Cheers!

One more vote for Meteor Grey (colour code EYY).

Thanks to Russ, paint code location (and a whole lot more) is pulled together here:

G'day all! It a negative for Meteor grey!.. Urghhhh..
This car has been painted & must have been done in some "bodge" colour. I have removed the fuel filler flap & am going to take that to the paint place, as they evidently have a guy there that is very good at matching paint. I shall report back when I know more.

In the mean time, I have had the windows tinted & they have come up lovely. It's not a wonderful picture, but...

Did you manage to find the paint code on the car?
Alternatively, post (or PM me) the car's VIN number (VF7..........) and I'll look up factory details, which should include paint code/colour.

G'day Chris.
No, there is no paint code on the car. It has had panel work done on the LHF & the paint code has been over painted. I don't know if you recall, but this car was last taxed in December 1998, & has been sitting ever since. It has also been repainted . I would love to have some answers to it's past...Why was a car that had only been on the road for 7 years, taken off?. My thoughts are that it was written off & repaired, but never re-registered. The panel repairs that were done on the front are not major, certainly not enough to have written it off when so young, but the fact that it has been repainted has me wondering..Maybe hail damage..We have some pretty wild hail storms over here.

Anyway, it's not Meteor Grey, & it's not silicone grey, so as i mentioned earlier, I removed the petrol filler flap & took it to the paint shop.
They pulled out this "paint scanning" device, calibrated it with total black & total white, then placed it on the petrol flap, doing multiple scans in different areas. He then plugged it into the computer & told it to look for a 90 model Citroen colour match..Well it couldn't...The closest was a 76% match. He then told the computer to look at "anything" that was a match, but none was better than the 76% match previously.
So, the computer then gave him a number, & he went to a cabinet & pulled out a big wad of grew metallic colour chips. He chose the colour chip that the computer had given him as a 76% match..sure enough, it wasn't quite right. He then asked if I could leave him with it, as he was going to manually adjust it from there.

So, I now have this paint & the rear spoiler & front bumper are being painted in it as I write.. I will let you know the outcome, but really..whatever it is now, it is.

My VIN is VF7Y3AG0002AG7060
I put it into Service box, but couldn't see anything exciting.

Cheers for now!
Jason

I contacted ServiceBox support, and they have just come back with this information from factory records:

Bonjour,

XM de couleur caisse métallisé verni GRIS METEORE (code EYY).

Garnissage intérieur NOIR FX.

Cordialement...

The inquiry needed a couple of emails. In the first, I quoted the vehicle's full VIN, RP/ORGA and XM-type.
The response came back quickly, "Could you give us the model of the car?" Had to smile!
