DANKE
Jürgen und Diana

No idea on a Workshop in Germany, but an Xm is a simple car...well, lots of bits, but each part simple. Alternatively, any general garage should be able to work on an Xm, especially one that works on Peugeot/Citroen products.
The clutch cable can be adjusted at the gearbox end. It sounds as if the friction material is worn, but try loosening the cable a bit and see if it improves.
Change the timing belt, it's pretty easy on a 2.0 engine.
The idle control is probably the idle control valve is sticking due to lack of use. Clean the ICV and inside the throttle housing with carburettor cleaner, then lubricate.
I don't know if the later Haynes manual covers the 2.0-16valve engine, but we have the manuals if you want to get involved yourself.
Also we have the Citroen Private cars books, which are very useful mechanics handy guides. See viewtopic.php?f=13&t=11023
The purpose of this forum is really to assist owners working on their own Xm, but if you get really stuck and there is no mechanic to work on yours, try Q&K Classic Citroen in Lubin, Poland.
Well done on saving another Xm.
