A 1995 V6 VSX BVM made its way to my “collection”.

Post by Ferdinand » Thu Jul 03, 2025 8:29 pm

Late january I went by a nice chap in order to help him set a price on a XM that he wanted to sell.

He had bought it 5 years old in 2000 and used it a family and company car for 7 - 8 years. He had spared no expence on keeping it working and also splashed cash on a partial respray to keep it visually fresh and nice. He changed job and had to drive much longer distances and therefore bought a car with a more frugal engine… And the XM was SORN’ed…

He tried to sell it some years ago, but a minor leak in the cabin heater had put off the potential buyer…. He decided to change the heater matrix and used the car daily to test it and everything was ok and the var was parked again…. for years.

In january 2025 his wife had asked him what his masterplan was for the XM - and he wrote and asked me… We then found out that we had spoken about the car the first time he wanted to sell it..

Anyway.. I went by him… saw the car - A 1995 V6 with manual gearbox and black leather from new (and therefore also black headliner and carpets…. And the colour: Mauritius Blue…. and no scratches - NO RUST… only a small dent in the right front wing…. And I fell in love instanly… and my excuse was: Only have 2 silver, 1 dark grey, 1 black, 1 green and a green doner… but…no blue 😍 The rest is history

It needs a BIG service: New spheres, all fluid and a refill for the A/C. But I plan to rip out the manual A/C system and replace it with a fully automatic system from my green donor. I’ll fit a set af “Etoile” alloys…. And though it was delivered with black leather I already have 2 other XM with the interior - so considering swapping it with a flawless grey alcantara leather interior from yet another donorcar… But not sure about that thought just yet….

Impeccable reasoning.

The car looks very nice. I take it the underbody grease is rustproofing, which appears to have worked.
