Londoner new to XMs
Hi all,
Some may have seen that I've already introduced myself in the Sales section, after having bought a 25k mile Series 1 2.0Si from a Citroen dealer in south London. I'm aware that the Series 1 cars are exceedingly rare, petrols perhaps even more so. I'm hugely enjoying driving the car so far, for many reasons, not least because of its as new interior and the wonderful suspension whose talents know no bounds. The car was very little used and well looked after, although it could have benefitted from more exercise during some of its most recent years. I understand the owner was very elderly and drove very little, but did ensure the car was MOTd on an annual basis and spent money as and when required.
I'm looking forward to listening to appropriate chansons as I cruise along, but first I need to have the radio repaired/replaced as it's frozen. If anybody has a functioning Clarion radio/cassette in good condition, please let me know! I hope to meet some of you soon. I live in Finchley, north London.
Best, Stefan.

Hi Steve
Welcome to the forum, i did see your post in the sales section, glad to hear your enjoying your xm.
The 8v petrols are very rare now, manuals even more so look after her
Would be nice to see some pictures if your not too busy piling the miles on
Most of the meets are organised by the CCC through the summer all over the country, many members here attend, i prefer the cx/gs/xm/xantia Rally at little horwood.
Good luck with the new toy.

Frozen as in you need the code, if so either a Citroen dealer should be able to supply it or post a query on http://forum.eserviceinfo.com/londonsteve wrote: I'm looking forward to listening to appropriate chansons as I cruise along, but first I need to have the radio repaired/replaced as it's frozen.

Re: Londoner new to XMs
If its the Grey fronted Clarion, its possible to re-code them with a soldering iron. I did it to my 1990 SD earlier this year. I got it with no code, and was able to recode it to 1112 or 1111 by removing all the solder jumpers from the code chip.
If its the same radio, I'll dig around for instructions.
And welcome to the forum and the world of Xms Stefan.
My first Xm was a 1990 Si like yours. Very similar indeed, I bought it with 17K miles on the clock. A fabulous car it was. It has moved on to a good friend of mine, as I wasn't using it enough, and have replaced it with a 1990 Turbo SD with 23K miles.

Nice trick on the code Robert.
My first XM was a 1991 2.0Si manual in white, although I'm sure it was an old stock car as it had a red steering wheel badge.
Oh, the mileage was Zero...

Re: Londoner new to XMs
Ha ha.. LOL..
I wish it had been, It seemed to rack up the 50k miles I did in it soon enough. I took it into a poxhall dealer for a trade in price against an Ohmygod and the salesman said "it's mint"...and it really was.
Needless to say my next car was an XM SD Auto...

Re: Londoner new to XMs
It's not a coding issue on the radio, it's just frozen on one particular frequency and won't budge. As the radio is in mint condition, I'd rather have it repaired than by some flashy head unit from Argos, even if it will sound better than the original.
