Thanks, it depends on what you want to do on your car and what your roof height is. The latter is probably the deciding factor. Also in my case is the roof to low but if you want to have free space around your car then the pit lift is much better. And if the hydraulic system is failing then you can still put the car above the lift if you have lowered it into the floor. That was the reason I did that because the XM was leaking LHM. With the pit lift you can still doing work on the Engine. If you need to do work underneath the car then you need some additional steel parts. I did create this additional parts from used roof support jacks which are very solid, adjustable and cheap.
Although I'm Dutch I moved to Poland and you're not allowed here to have a lift that lift higher then 1 meter without annual check(I heard that recently). I wish I had a 4-post lift to, that's what I really miss when working on Citroen's but with some creative thinking I can do everything.
