It does, but it needs to be back on before the belt is fitted, otherwise you cant get the mount back on.
Mount off, tensioner off, tensioner on, mount on, belt on.

Noted......I will need to replace the hex head bolt so I have accepted that I need to remove the whole lot. This is down to a hex tool that was to small or just low quality I think.

I have worked out how to get the cover/engine mount off etc, I think I have worked out the tensioner but.....now something is wrong ................the tension wheel will not retract fully in its slide (only half way) making it imposable to mount the belt

Do you have the tensioner off the engine?
The roller is pressed back by the tension release cam, which you should be able to operate with the tensioner off the engine to check operation.

The roller may be retreating the correct amount.

To fit the belt start at the crank pulley, then the fuel pump, then the cam, lastly the tensioner.
To fit it to the fuel pump you need to pull the belt hard and may need to put a spanner on the pump pulley and turn the pump forwards slightly, to mesh the teeth.
It's possible for the belt to have slack between the crank and fuel pump, which makes the timing one tooth out and shortens the belt on the slack side, so it cant reach round the tensioner.

The tensioner plate/wheel unit does not want to come off the car ......not applied to much pressure on it yet. It does swivel fine and the wheel runs true and silent/smooth

As long as the tensioner cam can be rotated fully to push the roller back, then that is enough space to fit the belt.

Managed to get the tensioner all the way back......belt tight (crank 2 pump 2 cam)....seems a little "short".....or is this correct and I lever it on ?
