Were you fitting from above, or below?
I've never had a problem when fitting from below.

I agree with Paul, the joint will self align.

From below....I think a lot depends on bolt length (thread)....so some kits will be easy and others will be a pain in the A (like mine :) )

Didn't someone recently write something about preventing the (special) bolt head from rotating?
I only have vague recollections of this job from ancient XUD9 work.

Just found this diagram in Peter Russek Diesel...
Shows the same manifold-downpipe coupling?

Moving on a bit more

Turbo oil feed and drain on, intercooler pipes, injectors connected, rockets, lifters and caps on....now working out where all the @@@@@@ wires and pipes on the right side of the engine go in relation to the air-pressure pipes.

Very good.. There still isn't that many wires on the epic system. There is a air flow sensor on the inlet pipe.. Not certain if the epic pump has wires directly to it .. But the throttle sensor is over by the battery box. A before picture comes in handy here to help lol..

Next stage, timing all checked, cam locked, carrier bolted down, I even polished the bolt heads :)

Moving on....

After a stupid mistake by setting the timing on the crank wrong.....Belt is now on and it turns over well on a ratchet.

Next job get the engine mount on and fire it up. (fingers crossed)
