New XM V6 owner from Finland

Post by BX19GT » Sat Jul 30, 2022 6:10 am

Hello all. I had an XM V6 auto imported from Holland last autumn and have been using it as my summer wheels this year in Finland. It is a late model from year 2000 and had 88000 kms (55000 miles) when I bought it. It was not cheap but it is rust free, complete and very tidy, especially the interior is almost like new. During my ownership the a/c compressor, battery, tie rod end, aux belt, washer pumps and some hydraulic pump seals have been replaced. I also had the gearbox rinsed and oil changed. Cambelt has been replaced in 2017 and at the same time the spheres were changed to comforts. I have a couple of issues which I will be posting on the technical forum.

I am a serial Citroen owner since 1991 and this is my second XM, the first being a two litre early Y4 manual in the late '90s. My modern drive is a Peugeot 308SW from 2021, so you can imagine the XM was a bit of a shock at first when I got it. But now I've grown quite fond of it, especially how it drives on the open twisty roads. Lots of creaks and rattles from the interior but that is how French cars were 20 odd years ago. You could write a book about the various sounds am XM makes :D
