I'm slightly confused by Geoff claiming the car was used for Diplomatic purposes, as he then indicates it was used by the International Sugar Organisation, which is a trade body, supported by member subscription.
Do you have any further detail and maybe a record of the original registration number. Obviously a Diplomatic car would bear a "D" plate.

Having looked further, it appears the International Sugar Organisation is allowed use of Diplomatic number plates, along with a number of other organisations. They currently have the prefix 912.

All these organisations use the prefix 900+.
It seems strange that these independent organisations should to be able to use UK Diplomatic plates for their cars, they are neither Diplomats, nor work for any countries Embassy.

Thanks for the info. I have not even looked through the paperwork properly yet. Got a busy weekend as my son is moving jobs and going back to work at McLaren so its tool moving time but will be back working on the XM soon.

Best wishes for your Son in his job...tool moving may be a chance to press the Xm into action.
One member once had over a tonne of roofing tiles in the back of an Xm estate, He loaded them all in then found it couldn't lift, started the engine and unloaded enough to make it rise, then re-loaded them and it was fine.

Shame active hydro-pneumatic suspension was banned from F1 in 1993, it's simple and extremely effective, which of course, Xm drivers knew quite a while before Damon and Nigel...

Last post from me. Unfortunately we have sold the Citroen after getting an offer we just could not turn down so its been short but sweet.
Rest assured the new owner fully intends to bring the car back up to spec.
