Hello, everybody, Jefferson from Brazil, here.

Just bought (after two years of waiting...) a black XM 3.0 24v 97/98. I live in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro. The car is very nice, and is in good condition, considering its age. I am a very huge fan of French cars (also have a C4 VTR and a Peugeot 407, both 2009, and just sold my Xsara coupé N6).

I'm learning everything about the car, since it's hard to find good mechanics around here, and I noticed that there is a lot of interesting material here.

And don't be surprised by the photos, our 98 model is a mix of facelifts....

The Rp number printed on the left hand A pillar will tell you the date the car was made.

There is nothing to be scared about regarding fixing an Xm, any reasonable mechanic should be able to look after it.

Thanks!
The code is 7689, the orga calculator returns 27/11/1997.
Unfortunately, there's some rust over the color code, and can't define if it's EXX or EXY, black or noir onyx, although both are very similar.

Rust or deep muck .. usually deep muck. I'm not sure to what age the paint code was stencilled below the (looking in enginebay) right side chassis leg.. below battery box..

I had a grey 1992 which had simmular issues with the colour code stencilled...

One is solid, super-lustre, black, the other is metallic grey.

From the images, yours is black...so EXY.

No... EXY | Noir

Be aware of the year as the paint colours and makeup changed in later years of Xm

I can't find any reference to EXX.

Understood.... I've found these two separate codes for paint colors , EXX for black, and EXY for noir onyx, at ink dealers here.
Thanks!!
