I live in France and its a 500km round trip plus a ferry (x3) if I buy it.
May I ask, what do you think of the price (noting its RHD and therefore of no interest to the French)?
What does the "VSX" denote?
What problems were still occuring in 2000 models?
Am I mad considering it

Lets take you last question first.
There is a view expressed every now and again that all Citroen owners are mad.
That is of course only an opinion, could be biased and may not come from a sound mind.
In polite society sanity is assumed of all of us with no requirement of proof.
Only a very few of us posess that magic bit of paper that proves sanity because the madhouse refused us entry.
VSX is a mid range trim level car.
My guess is that that car might be worth £800 to £1200 in the UK depending on detailed examination.
Biggest risk with it is probably the state of the autobox.
Average life 150k but a very wide spread of actual failures depending on how serviced and abused.

Thanks for the replys
Actually I would prefer an estate, and diesel, and LHD
But its 7 years older and twice the mileage, and a looong way to view

Don't let the mileage put you off, if the body is good its worth spending money on. There may be someone on the club who will view it for you. Phone the chap and find out where he is, it says 97 miles from here, but that doesn't help a lot.
