Come over from .com!

Post by simonxm21 » Sun Jul 03, 2011 2:47 pm

Hi all,
i've decided to finally come over from .com! i'm also known on the bxclub aka simonbx17. I'm and avid Citroen fan since i was 9 years old when dad got his first Citroen a bx 19rd saloon and was hooked, even did a school science project on the bx.

But my heart has always been to own an XM ever since it's launch and receiving the big brochure which i still have from 1989 i also have the 1:18 solido model :D

In April this year I finally took the plunge after several years of going to then didn't but lucky for me one of my mechanic customers was selling his, it's a series 1.5 2.1 turbo d saloon with 203.000 odd miles under it's belt and i love it! albeit already testing my patience :!: with hand brake cable unhooking itself from the pedal and electric window woes which are now fixed but it now needs a clutch and the rear offside chassis leg has a hole in it and sunroof issues:( suppose this is part and parcel of owning a citroen  despite this I get a tingle everytime i look at it ;) and yes i have been challenging the hydractive suspension it's so addictive, to which i have manage to dirty my sidewalls

Here are some pics from when bought it.....don't be fooled it has various parking dings and dent's which i hope to get fixed next year.

That does look nice indeed. Technically it should have wobbly web type alloys, not S1 Italia ones.

Doing a clutch on a 2.1 is fairly easy, you just need to remove the battery box, hydraulic oil tank and n/s engine mount, then it's pretty normal.

cheers guys, with regards to wheels wobbly webs is that the starfish shaped one's? i quite like the slanted/slash spoke 24v ones.
but there's only one style for me and that's italia's (i've just learn't the name of these) :) they just suit the xm admirably, maybe not the s2.

Even though mine was registered in 1993, according to my R.P number mine was built (23/06/1992) so does this make mine an s1?

cheers.

I like the the colour too, in fact the whole car looks nice. Your are lucky to find a 2.1 manual they are like hens teeth now and yours looks well worth doing up. Keep up the good work.

It will be an S1.5 as they are commonly known as. Easily differentiated by the inner wing earthing points, twin spoke steering wheel, grey seat bolsters instead of full Romana velour, headlights switch on the indicator stalk instead of a rotary switch below.

I have 2 * 2.1TD built in June 1992. At 5706, yours is just a bit later than both of mine.

spot on! mine has all the above! so that confirms it then, a series 1.5! so with regards to the hydractive does mine have the extra valve? as in when it switches to firm in auto mode it's a little softer? i notice that with mine when i manually switch to firm you notice it more so than in auto mode? does that make sense?
