I was going to say, your specs are still rather specific unfortunatly.
V6's do come up very rarely but to find a manual one will be very difficult indeed and they will go for good money unless utter rubbish.
A manual 2.1 may be achievable although i know of many people who have tried to find one for a long time now without success, again when they do appear they are expensive for a good vehicle or if cheap its for a reason.

Widening your search to MK2's may help but almost all were auto except the 2.5TD that only ever had a manual box.

A TCT would be the one to go for, more chance of finding a good manual one that hasnt been to the moon and back in your price range, at the end of the day you give it a £15 boost controller and it will outperform the 12v V6 no worries with the same mpg, slightly more on a run.

I fitted one of them to the Activa I had. It went like a rocket!

Exactly 8-) , depends what you want of course but its always going to be easier to find a sound petrol car at a good price than a sound derv at a good price, a 2.5 would be a nice choice and not too hard to find at reasonable money either as i think people are scared of them so thats worth thinking about.

Mind you if your set on a MK1 that will make your search hard work, there are probably only a few hundred left now and most will not be on the marke anytime soon as they will be keepers being brought or kept at show condition.

I you had come on and said you wanted a MK2 auto 2.1/TCT your search would be very easy

My keeper series 1 car is white, not my favourite colour, but I can live with it for the rest of the cars condition and rarity.
My first XM was white. It looked great sitting there in the showroom, so I bought it. White was very in in 1991... :D

Being specific for a manual REALLY does significantly restrict your options as mentioned before!

When new, the ratio of auto versus manual must be something like 8'ish to 1 so manual cars
are once in a blue moon sightings. IF you then say it HAS to be a V6 or a diesel and MUST be
a s1 that cuts the field of an already narrowed selection down to virtually nothing!

I'm not saying I disagree with your choice / wish list but can't help feeling you're about
5 years too late unless you buy David's 24v v6!!
