Hi all, thinking about getting an XM

someone has probably removed the EGR system.. No EGR (OR shouldnt be) on the plastic manifold.

Ive never seen under the bonnet on yours Russ.. Might have a GOOD look at all this time, Im there Fri Sat AND sun till late...

Cheers for the welcome and info guys ... are all of the fuel systems pretty much the same with reliability? I understand Lucas pumps mean it's not veg oil friendly and I am not averse to disconnecting/blocking off EGR valves.

I was thinking about an auto XM for more relaxed motoring, for when I'm feeling tired/lazy.
For everyday economical motoring I'll be keeping my VW tdi (EGR & ASV removed) as I can get over 60mpg on veg oil from that

.... However if I enjoy the XM too much I'll drive the VW less.

Yep...no EGR that I know of.

mine is same as your SD..built on the same day. What has yours got?

An auto XM from 1992 to 1996 should have Bosch Pump on them with Auto box.

Theres a change in 1994/5 (M plates) both Series 1 and Series 2 cars are available on M plates.

The series 1 or 2 is down to preference to which interior you prefer. Original as concived, or revisions, and curvier dash...

S1 cars are becomeing harder to get hold of however... that leaves S2 cars slightly more available.

Yep...no EGR that I know of. mine is same as your SD..built on the same day. What has yours got?

Manual, Bosch With Alloy manifold AND EGR... which it should have in 1992

Removal of the EGR has most likly helped your car in the performace stakes...

Its useally does. I should remove it from my HDi...

Maybe.....I suppose at the back of the engine you'll see a blanking plate or something like it, if it has had a different manifold put on it.

Yea, the EGR pipe in in the MIDDLE of the four inlet pipes - and goes down the back..

Yes I know from pics of the alloy manifold, they have the EGR pipe running down the middle. I am intrigued now with mine.
I don't want it refitted mind you!
