Good Evening all.

I'm not a Citroen owner but know a few people who are! I thought I would stroll over and have a look at what all the fuss is about.

Currently I run a couple of 124 Mercedes and I'm very happy with them. I am however having my arm twisted in a most delightful way to consider an XM as my chosen chariot.

I am based in Lancashire so have a specialist quite close to me.

Arm twisted by Dieselman and me, surely not!

Welcome John, who in real life as online is a seriously good egg.

THe old ones that love any fuel as much as a good old fashioned Bosch XUD engine does :)

Welcome to the crazy house! Maybe we can tempt you with a nice XM estate or such like ;)

2.1 td manual XM gives Mercedes comfort or better with 50 mpg economy if driven carefully.

Hmmm...I never thought I'd see the day you defected, even if only browsing...

If fuel economy is important only a 2.1 TD manual will give the best, a 2.5Td can be half decent with more refinement and performance but a 2.0i can give a good a decent showing in this area too.

For sheer luxury it has to be the series 2, 3.0 V6.

I think John is more of the auto persuasion. Get a 2.1 auto, ensure the fuel pump and the kickdown are spot on and it will give a multivalve W124 level of performance with better economy. I was getting about 40mpg in my diesel (for the whole two weeks I had it!).
