New xm owner saying hello

Good Morning to you all
In a moment of ebay madness I found myself bidding and winning a 1995 2.0 xm, its auto has 130k and has only had two owners. its got no MOT or tax and has been off the road for a year. The abs light is on which I think means it will fail the MOT now, also the sunroof will open but may or may not shut depending on how it feels. I am waiting for it to be delivered at the moment and I am sure when I go over it properly there will be some more niggles, either way I intend to try and fix the abs and try and get it through an MOT and then start sorting anything else on it.
I have never owned an xm but my father had three when I was younger and I have always remembered them fondly, I have a c5 at the moment which is ok, but is not as weird and wonderfull as an xm
can anyone suggest an xm specialist in or near north london and or at clacton on sea, essex as I am between the two places quite often
Thanks Tom

Welcome!
Ahh the winner of the Black Onyx Auto comes forward!
Glad it went to someone who Wanted one AS a whole car! I had one IDENTICAL to yours in black and on an M Plate, with LPG injection. However I sold it on, as a big mistake, but thats another story!
I cant help you with London area Specialists, as Im up in North Wales, prehaps Martin at Pleiades might be able to help further. I dont have a contact address for him though.

I had been half looking for one for a while but had only come across ones for £1000 and up it was to cheap to not bid on and not to far away. If it all worked I would get to take it apart either would I

XMs are at a funny place price wise at the moment. UNKOWN cars seem to still be cheap, where enthusiasts cars values creep up.
Ive sold TWO XM Diesels last year, a K reg manual I rescued from scrap, fitted a clutch in it, MOTd it but the car had about 230k on it, HOWEVER a massive history file. I fellow member has it now.
Then end of last year, I rescued another K reg Manual Diesel.. fitted a clutch, head gasket, water pump, welded the cills, etc etc MOTd and that one now is also with a current member.
Im now in possesion of another L reg 2.1 TD auto that im wanting to do up, and actually KEEP for myself!
Buy a cheap one and expect to pay the SAME again sorting them out, theres always something that needs sorting on them, or buy from an enthusiats and pay a bit more and enjoy for a while!

A bit of good warning: there's the chance you won't want to get rid of it

especially if the suspension is in good working order!

I always remember them being cheap which I always thought was strange as they were so much more advanced than anything else and bigger and more comfatable and the list goes on....
Even the 3 my dad had he never paid for the first one was left untaxed on the road and was going to be crushed unless someone claimed it, it later turned out the owner had moved abroad
The second one was a friend of a friends and was thought to have a blown motor and was given to him for spares but it turned out it just had an extreamly dirty air filter.
The last one he had was left in the parking spot of an abandend factory and was owned by the factory he managed to claim that one as well .
Its a shame people dont abandon cool stuff like that any more

You won't be saying that when you eventually do come to sell it, or get positive comments about it.
For the ABS, the first port of call is always the sensor lead connectors.
