If it's a 4 HP 18 auto box, then Dexron 2. Absolutely nothing else.

Dexron II in a 4HP18 (Fitted to all Mk 1 XM autos and early Mk 2's)
Use no other.
Make sure it is to spec, some marked Dex II is not.
Accept no crap from people who offer equivalents, replacements or Dex III.
Check on here for the spec.
Not even sure we consider Carlube ATF-Q as meeting the spec.
If he does not post a reply PM Dean to check on actual compliant oils.
Lots of stories from proud owners with blown auto boxes.
Thought they were using the right stuff or paid a quality garage but did not check what was being used.
Dean (4HP18) and CitroJim (4HP20) can give advice on rebuilding failed boxes but the parts cost alone is more than most cars are worth.

When you do the oil changes (more than one in quick succession if you have no reliable car history) you should get an idea of how far gone things are.
Colour of old oil, smell and metal content are good guides.

My xm handbook say to use TOTAL FLUIDE ATX ?
