No longer hoping to buy - have bought

Hi folks!

Some time ago, I was Hoping to Buy an XM Estate and my hopes have finally been realised: I now own a 2.5 TD estate , colour maroon, reg M827 EWK bought from Malcolm Orme of Savoy Garagein Burnley. The car looks beautiful. We drove it from Burnley to our home in SW London, and just kept marvelling at the magic ride it gives. And to me, the Citroen XM estate is the most beautiful of any estate that I have seen. It looks like a beautiful dart. It certainly beats the DS for looks. But of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Anyway, it turns out the car still has some isssues to be resolved, but I'm sure this will be done fairly soon: will have to take it back up to Burnley.

One thing I will have to organise soon is a full "rejuvenation" of the very comfortable leather seats. Any ideas on where to go for this?

In the meantime, when I drive it, I'm on the lookout for other XM's on the road. But have not seen one yet around our neck of the woods.

See you, maybe.

Congratulations on the 2.5 estate, which will certainly turn a few heads in SW London!
All sounding good.

Congratulations! Interesting choice of town car. My memory of my S2 estate was that I was forever wishing it was shorter!!!!!!!

Enjoy.

Rob

PS You may have a long wait to spot another one :)

Hi

Might be worth contacting Vince on here about the seats if it is rejuvenating the leather.
He has made lots of posts and photos of his work refinishing cars over the last few years.
Vince is based in Manchester but will travel if needed.
He might even be able to do something while the car is with Malcolm at Hapton.

Good luck with your car. I am usually only to be spotted at night time driving from Holyhead to Dover but I think I'll give that a pass for some time to come. I never see any XM's in the UK either. How bad is your leather seats, you can buy stuff to clean and then nourish, can't you. These seats are comfy indeed.

In the two years I've had mine I haven't seen an XM on the road. Though tbh I haven't seen many Xantias neither.

There are only 447 left on the road now I think so getting fairly rare, numbers will probably being showing a further decline for Q4.

I saw 5 in France last week, and 2 Cactusses...It's a record for now but I never used to pay attention. Still plenty of Xantia's in France.

Xantias are still showing strong numbers at 5500 on the road and half that sorn, which is surprising.

Wasn't the only one to have had a look at How Many Left today, figures being... (SORN in brackets; totals unreliable)

All XM 447 (570)
2.0 209 (233)
3.0 48 (66)
2.1 141 (202)
2.5 81 (108)

UK V6 and 2.5 coming close to Endangered Species/Cars of Special Scientific Interest now.

And, for comparison...
All 605 80 (95)
All CX 156 (377)
All BX 544 (1100)
All Xan 5500 (2300)

Agree, Dean, the Xantia SORN figure is interesting. Didn't realise that so many folk were so attached to them!
