Hi all, im currently after a cheap and cheerful XM to give to my father as a present. He used to own an XM when they were new and is always talking about it, I actually remember the car myself vaguely. Needs to have some MOT.

Many Thanks

Hi adam and welcome. .

You might want to elaborate a bit more on that.. theres a choice.

Early mk.1s
Middle mk.1s known as s1.5s
And series two
And end of line series 2 which were stripped down a bit on some specs.

Early mark one cars will always need attention and watching over as bodys are getting on..

However. I do have a H reg 2.1 sed manual diesel hatch comming soon for sale and will have a full mot. In red.. not perfect but quite presentable but also very tidy and useuable. Air con and sunroof dont work and the abs bas been disabled and warning lamp removed due to contiunious problems but has never had a brakeing issue and has very good brakes...

I don't think He's bothered about the spec as long as it's roadworthy.

Jut out of interest, so it seems you can get that car MOT'd with a not working ABS system, wish I could do that in IRL..

Yea Captin... ABS ECU removed and a noticed a sensor missing, and the ABS lamp is also removed.

Prehaps the MOT tester I use is not bothered as long as the car Brakes pass the rolling road test, and theres no orange lamp illuminated.

Compared to the BX's, the XM does look a cut above, both in hatch and estate form.

Thanks for the replies everyone, sorry about the lack of information I was closing up at work so had to type us quite sharpish. Ideally a series 2, however if the right MK1 came up i'm sure that would be fine. So long as the vehicle has MOT and not major rust issues then it should be fine. I'm in no rush to be honest but I have seen one on ebay that seems mechanically sound, it's just a bit knocked up around the body, which is fine. But it ends today and im working all day, plus the car is over 3 hours away.

Thanks for the warm welcome

I think that is a steal at that money. Buy it.
