Greetings from Paraguay !!!

Post by AlbertoMiguel » Tue Oct 27, 2015 4:08 am

I have been a proud owner of a 1993 black 3.0 V6 manual XM for about 8 years now and I never get tired of admiring this magnificent car!.
I am the 2nd owner and so far the car has been very reliable and trouble free, still, I thought it would be a good idea to know it better, so I decided to use the extensive knowleage of the forum members by becoming a member myself.
Thank you for accepting my request to join you all.
Alberto

Hi Alberto and welcome.

Perhaps we should come and visit you to see your car. A trip to Paraguay would be a great experience. How do you get on for parts availability and service items for your XM?

Hi Sr. Dieselman,

Paraguay, located right in the middle of SouthAmerica, a tropical country with a rich indigenous culture and very simple people.
Of course, you are welcome to take a trip anytime (BA to Miami and from there several airlines to Asuncion via SaoPaulo-Brasil), you will need a guide...., and I volunter for that.
There is a Citroen dealer here, no more than 10 Xms were imported (mine is one of the 3 V6s)...the rest are all TDs.
We relay on a very experienced mechanic who used to work for the dealer, he takes care of most of the citroenists cars along with my DS, CX and 2CV.
Many thanks again for acepting me as your member, I am sure it will be a great help to keep my babies in good running order.

You are very welcome Alberto and our first member from Paraguay I think! It is amazing to think that XMs got as far as South America if only 10 and you are doing well to keep them on the road. There are some serious fans of the early V6 on the Forum including myself with several examples, of which photos are attached. Please do let us know if you have any issues and it would also be great to see some photos of your car! With regards, Matthew T.

Hi Alberto, amazing an XM in Paraguay along with a 2cv, DS and a CX. I like your car choice and your country intrigues me as you are bound to have more sun shine over there as in Ireland.

I hope your mechanic will be be able to keep all those citroens going and if not I'm sure some of us will be able to help in one way or the other! Cheers!

Alberto,

My brother resides in Cucaape. I may pay him a visit in the Fall. It would be a real treat for me just to see another XM. Maybe we can get together. I have a 1990 V6 24v XM. Only a few, perhaps 20, made it to N. America.

My neighbor is from Chile. His first job was stamping out 2CV gas pedals. S. America has a long history with Citroen. May yours run forever!

Welcome from N. America!
Dave

Alberto,

My brother asks for you phone number or address. If you like, you can E-mail me at ...... His name is Doug Woolley. Sorry I don't have his address, only a Miami transfer address. If you would rather, I can send you his address or phone number, later.

Thanks,
Dave

What a small world!!, Caacupe is a small town about 35miles east of Asuncion!!!...well known for its religious activities....every year in December. I will send you my contact numbers here in Asuncion.
I come here twice a year, I reside in Canada where we have some interests, but comes September and usually I make my trip to Asuncion for a few months.
I will be in touch.....and thanks for the nice surprise.

Alberto
