Hi There,

I am new to the forum as I have recently purchased a 37k 89 G XM 2.0Si - what a great car!

I need some help finding some parts if anyone can point me in the right direction?

I need a new tow hook cover as mine is missing!

I need a new or refurb idle bypass valve as mine does not function correctly

I now need a new plastic hub cap disc as one flew off early today!! The wheels are alloy with a large flat plate like disc of plastic that simply clips on the cover the nuts/hub

Any help gratefully recieved

Thanks

Murray

Welcome Murray to the forum. Wow you have an early XM there. Do start an owners thread and upload some pics. Would be great to see it. :) and if you wish, you can add the cars details to the register.

There are some folk on here who have stockpiles of parts, so hopefully someone will be along to help you out. I fear the hubcap might be tricky, they are rare, but you never know what some people have stashed away!

Hi Murray, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately the parts you are after are very rare and not available new except the ICV, they can probably be sourced from scrap yards on the continent fairly easily if your really keen, eBay should turn up an ICV.

Your car was spotted when it was up for sale and drew a lot of comments, it looks really good and would be nice to have some proper photos of it, looking at your Rp number it would seem you have the oldest UK registered car currently known on the forum so it is a bit of a special find.

i have LOADS of ICV things, I have got some plastic alloy covers BUT and a BIG BUT I need to be sure first Ive got 4... IF there is a 5th one then all in good, but that may take a while, Im currently 3/4 way through my XM stuff.. and so far have got 4 covers, but there is a 4th alloy here some where in the shed and I cant remember if I left a cover in place on it when stocked...

I need to see if the other three wheels, in a seperate area have covers with them or if the 4 im looking at belong to the wheels..

So then, does this car then knock MTXMs (False uk contender) car for being the oldest UK XM?

If truth be have it as far as RHD cars go, this ones the oldest then neils then Rays recent G reg SED being the oldest cars..

So far as the list is concerned yes it is the oldest UK car, not as old as Mathews but then that isn't a UK car as you say.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I am based in East Grinstead, West Sussex

Slowly sorting the small faults out, already found a strut for the glove box!

Fitted new Michelin Cross Climate and had the wheels refurbished by Lepsons

Now need to fit a new exhaust whilst still searching for these scarce parts,

Any help gratefully received,

Cheers

Murray

Regarding the towing eye cover: in the new year I shall seek out a plastic casting company who can hopefully make a cast of a towing eye cover and maybe I can get a few made up. I'll make a new post about this, but just giving people a heads-up.

I'm really interested to see these refurbished wheels.

Matthew posted details of a complete exhaust system of reasonable quality for the 2.0 for a very reasonable price on eBay, it was from Poland i think but looked good.

Those wheels are very nice, I wish they did them as 17", I remember my dad looking at buying a black SEi that wore them back in the day, lovely looking car, he settled for a silver BX DTR instead though which was great but just not the same.

Sounds like your the owner the seller was after and the car is in good hands.
