Hello from expat in France

Hello all.
Frogcod here, serial Citroenist.
After a long break from XMs I've just bought my second one, a 2.5td.
Can't seem to post pics, but I'm sure you all know what a 96 Mercury grey xm looks like...
I've had a few weeks and all the important bits are still working :D
Needs an accumulator sphere though, I'll expect you'll here the swearing from Calvados when I come to change it

Hi, and a warm welcome!
Good to have yet another 2.5 in our midst - there have been a good few of these added recently.
Calvados, eh? Very nice...
Don't forget to put a few details into your Profile, so we know a bit more about the car, and where you are exactly.

Posting photos:

At the bottom of your new post, hit Full Editor
Then hit Upload Attachment tab
Then Choose File, and select the picture file from your pc or photo library
The file name will then appear
Then hit Add the File

Place your cursor in your post at the position you want the photo to appear
Then hit Place in Line

Use Preview to check everything out
Make any adjustments to spacing, etc. and finish off any remaining text
Finally, hit Submit - and it's done.

If photos or picture files are too large, they can be reduced in size in Paint, Picassa, etc.
JPG (JPEG) files work easiest.

Looking forward to seeing you new chariot. Do post a few photos soon!

Hi welcome to the forum. Lovely looking car and no sunroof. Something most of us recently have been cursing!

I keep looking at French XM and much prefer the look of the roof having no sunroof. IMO, the sunroof upsets the long flat roofline, making the car look less sleek.

Bienvenue a notre forum, Frogcod.

Hope you are enjoying it in la belle France. Presumably, your French is pretty good, otherwise it's a brave thing to go and live there without speaking the lingo, or with speaking it just a little.

Interesting to hear that you are a serial Citroenist. I've got a Citroen XM 2.5 TD Estate and am wondering whether to go and buy a CX, thus starting out on the road to being a serial Citroenist.

What a great forum this is, I've just spent the day sorting a few faults from info from here. Mostly cleaning electrical connections.....
Still got the accumulator to do.
@JK99 I've been here over 11 years, my French is still cr@p, but I get by. And don't wonder about buying a CX, do it.
Last CX I had was a 2.5 Pallas auto, best car I ever had despite several visits from the AA, still prefer the CX over the XM

My first experience of driving a big Citroen was a CX Familiale, around Sussex: awesome and so comfortable. Bitten.

Hi Frogchod and Chris

Thanks for the advice re the CX. It certainly is a nice looking car . But to buy one means getting rid of one of the cars that I have, probably my Rover 800 Vitesse, 1996, into which I have poured quite a lot of money, which I will never get back when selling. Also, I have gradually fixed most of its faults and the car is now reliable, to the extent that during the last 3 years I have done about 5K miles on the continent in it. The other two cars I am slowly fixing up. I would find it a bit excessive to have 4 cars. But if the Rover or the Citroen XM develop some huge defects, beyond economic repair, then a Citroen CX would be good to buy, it seems.
