Hi Folks,
I got myself an XM from a deceased friends estate, he had 32 Citroens, mostly DS, GS, three Cx..its an early V6 auto.Had a go at it, first no spark and replacing the ignition module fixed, then fitted a new fuel pump the old one was seized as car has sat for 8 years.I can hear it run on switching ignition but wont start, the fuel pump does not run while cranking.I figured out its the violet relay outside the ecu box, replaced but still same.I checked injectors getting pulse.Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forum

I wonder if any of the CXs were diesel, I ran them for about 10 years and XMx for 15 years. Cant help you with yours I'm afraid as its petrol, the last petrol cars I ran had carburetors and distributors.

Ahh. A nice early V6-SEI in white, with no sunroof. Heaven, apart from the auto box.

Check there is fuel delivery at the rail as once primed the pump won't be heard until fuel is required. I assume you ahve a spark, if so, try a splash of petrol straight into the throttle body while cranking over. Could the filter be blocked?

Got spark and pulse ok at injector, will get back there on Saturday. I heard there are some fuel system connectors under lhm reservoir, is that right?

All of the connections between the cabin and engine ecu are under the lhm tank, all power is fed to the ecu from there too. But if you have a pulse at the enjectors there can't be that much wrong with it.

Saw your post in the self help section about fuel, i would pull the fuel supply pipe off the fuel rail and stick it in a bottle, see if any fuel can manage to make an enthusiastic appearance, could be a clogged filter.

I take it you are not aware the car was parked up because of any running issues?

She looks pretty solid. ETW, Alpine White. Same as my baby.

No clue about V6 cars :)

Try MTXM, he has been known to tinker with the odd V6 also Dean (see above) has had a bit of a crash course in his ongoing mission to rip a perfectly decent 2.0 lump out of his beautiful XM and stuff a dirty great V6 into its place.

Good luck.
