Hi
I'm a new member and of course an XM Lover!
I currently have two XM's but need to sell one of them so was hoping for a bit of guidance. I am also keen to know if any estate's pop up on here as this would suit my needs More rather the the very prestine exclusive model recently purchased as the roof is simply too low for me! Silly hey? I didn't pick it up on purchase so only notice when my posture is obviously improved. I have recently been told then the newer models have this issue (for some).
My Exclusive is in great nick! so it's a hard decision to come to but definitely the best for me simply because of the roof issue!
I'm based in Bristol.

Hello Selma, and welcome.

Estates do come up, but not often.

So far as I know, the driver's headroom is exactly the same in both the hatchback and estate - it's only the roofline at the rear that differs.
Not sure just how tall you are, but your Exclusive should have fully-equipped electrically controlled front seats, and the seat height adjustment on the XM does provide a lot of vertical travel. Is it working?
Might be worth checking that no-one has added any unofficial vertical spacers between the seat's slide rails and the floor mounting brackets.

Some suggestions that cars without a sunroof (much sought after) have additional front headroom. Someone will confirm. In the UK, these are quite rare: virtually all UK models got sunroofs.

Do post some more details about your cars - engine types, RP numbers - and a photo or two.

Estates do have slightly higher roofs but irrespective any XM with a sunroof is only fit for someone of shorter stature. The seatss are set high and the roof low. With 2" taken for the sunroof cassette, there is no room left.

Is that true for the front seats?

I am 6 foot tall. While my locks are brushing the sunroof I never have my head in contact with the roof.
