Citroen say the correct belt is 650mm x 10mm. I think the figure of 666mm is coming from aftermarket sources, much like the 700mm for the larger pully pumps.
Don't go too long, it encourages slippage as the tensioner arrangement rus out of travel. As already said, get a XPZ as opposed to an SPZ for better durability. SPZ and XPZ belts are all nominal 10mm x 8mm depth with 35 degree slope.

There are many sources, but here is one with XPZ-655.

It should be a factory fit sunroof on all SEi models in the UK.

The car looks wonderfiul...nice colour.

I cannot be sure from the main shot, but it does look like an retro-fit sunroof car, which would be confirmed by single rather than twin interior lights. The pump is definitely original and of the early type and you need a 666mm length belt. Please do keep us posted on your progress and any advice and/or parts required! With regards, Matthew T.
Thanks for the belt info I'll order one tonight. It's not sitting in a hedge don't worry just the camera angle. It was a factory fit sunroof unless someone did a rea pro job in its first two years. I'll check the interior lights later and post a few more photos.

Hi again Matthew what thickness should the belt be ?

Peter, the belt should be a 666mm X 10mm for your pump

Thank you, can I use a higher than 75 amp hour battery? There is a lot of engine to turn over and a shed load of electrics to run?

Picture of interior light cluster and sunroof control. The sunroof stopped working in 2002 cable rot I think.Image

In the first post Peter stated the car had been in the garage, it drove out under it's own steam.
Looking at the shots we have, there is no rust in the engine bay and won't be on the body.

That light cluster and roof ining are factory fit items for a sunroof version car.
Your car should have a factory fit sunroof as all UK Sei versions did. It's easy to tell, the aftermarket ones fitted to lesser versions have a black metal frame on the outside ofthe roof skin.

I can see the belt is slack and has worn down, but importantly, the tensioner bolt is in place. You can just see it poking below the pump and acting on the flange cast into the cylinder head. It may need some freeing off to work properly. Lubricate then remove it, clean it up and refit, then use it to get the belt tight enough.

You need to slack off the locknut on the other end of the tensioner retaining bolt to allow movement. Don't forget to slack the pump pivot bolt also when adjusting.

You can use whatever you can fit into the battery box, though in reality a decent 096 will do the job without complaint. Varta, Bosch, Yuasa.

So do you guys think it will actually work the hydraulic's again. I remember when it was left standing for a long period back in the late nineties the strut or something stuck of a few seconds before it made a bang and the lifted like new. should I lube anything prior to starting it with a new belt? Oh and did I say that she started without any fresh fuel! I will put some fresh in before I start it up again and will let the motor spin over a few times before using the keypad code. Anything else I should do before turning her on again?

Cheers

Yeah, they will work no problem.

Ideally, you should give her a full service with all fluids and filters but if that is too much or you are not putting it back into use just yet an engine oil and filter change will do to prevent potential harm.

Hi Dean

I have no issue with a full service but lack the knowledge and skills to do it. How can I do an oil change while she is flat on the deck? or should I raise her up (if she will) put her on stands and do it quickly before she settles back down? Sorry for all the questions but I'm a hotelier not a mechanic. LOL

I would fit the hydraulic pump belt and start it up, the car will lift itself up high enough to get a jack under it and then you can raise the car to get it on axle stands or blocks, from there you can drain the fluids and do whatever servicing work you want and take as long as you want.

NEVER GO UNDER OR REACH UNDER A HYDRAULIC CITROEN THAT IS NOT SUPPORTED ON AXLE STANDS OR SIMILAR, this is very important because there are things under the car if you knock which may cause the suspension to drop, air in the system or other things can cause the car to drop so always make sure the car is properly supported.

When the time comes i could easily record a video instruction of any jobs you need to do if you need that level of help as i am messing around with mine at the moment anyway.
