Dean that is so kind of you. I will let you know how i get on over the next few weeks. My time is very limited as we are now into the tourist season in Scotland and my Hotel will be very busy until late October.

Just been frantically searching for the owners manual and service book in its soft black velvet cover but alas I think it has gone along with a lot of my fathers stuff last year!

Your car should have a factory fit sunroof as all UK Sei versions did.

All very early cars were retro-fitted with sunroofs regardless of spec. Will and that included sei, although the light cluster in this case confirms factory as you state. Here is a rather nice photo of a 12v auto to illustrate the point. Regards, Matthew T.

Here is one one of the recent batteries that I have purchased Peter and you will find the recommended model is unnecessarily small.

I will need some other parts for MOT including Passenger front side light damaged by sons racing quad! a rear red light lens on Passenger side of the tail gate. where is the best place to pick up this stuff? any specialist breakers??

Found the owners hand book ! but no velvet wallet or service book........bugger still I've known the car since around 1993 and remember now what is and is not working already. I do remember false tail light messages due to bad earths being a problem and I think it had w wheel wobble that was put down to a faulty inner drive shaft. although I may be wrong about that. I know we have the wheels balance several times to try and sort it but it never went away.

Amazing what comes back to you after all this time. I do hope a new belt properly installed is going to bring her back to some kind of life.

75Ah or better? It's the CCA (cold cranking amperage) that matters when it comes to cranking a large engine. That Yuasa 096 is "diesel spec", and will spin the lower compression of a V6 petrol without issue. If you want to spend more money, there's a YBX5096, but little advantage to be had.

In relation to replacement lights and other parts Paul (Citroen XM) on this Forum based in North Wales is probably your best bet, although if necessary I also have a good stock of parts. Unfortunately you will not find XMs in the breakers these days, unless they are a specialist Citroen garage dealing with older models. I also strongly recommend Edwards & Son at Billericay Essex, who while not always cheap are extremely efficient at locating and forwarding parts. All the best of luck with the new belt! The rear light should be easy to source, the sidelight less so, but you should be able to gain an MOT pass without replacements. The front light just has to emit white light, it doesn't need to have a cover.
The rear light would be OK not working as long as the outer light is, but if the problem is a broken red lens, as long as it's not showing white light it will pass anyway, so if it's holed, just tape over it as a stop gap.

I think i have some spare rear lights, need to check on what I need for the 24v. No spare sidelights.

The wheel wobble is most likely to be the tyre gone out of round, rather than a driveshaft issue. Another possibility is a buckled wheel, though XM Italia wheels are not known for that.

I can't obtain any VIN details for that car so can't say when it was produced, but it was registered in August 1990. By then it should have had a factory sunroof, so maybe it was a very early production run car which was then put on the press fleet.

Have you actually seen a UK SEi with aftermarket sunroof?

Thanks Will and two cars come to mind, the first being a scrap black 2.0sei some years ago at Edwards & Son, from which I removed and still have the interior light fitting. The other car was a 3.0sei manual in Olympic blue also on a G plate and owned by Mark and Jayne in Edinburgh, from whom I acquired my 24v. With regards, Matthew T.
