Welcome - where are you located? I'm sure that someone who knows about these things will be along to help. Mean while keep looking - don't just seal off that sunroof!

just purchased a citroen xm I am located in the wigan Lancashire area
long story short I went to buy a pie and got a xm . well it made sence to me anyway
but I cant open the sun roof. the motor runs so I think the cogs / gears are stripped they seem to be plastic / one white one black
it seems a shame not to fix it

Have you taken the motor/gearbox off and opened it up?
There are a number of gears - if anything it would be the worm gear/cable is the one that's stuffed.

I have not stripped the motor but
I have taken the light cover off and can see two plastic gears and they are slipping but no movement from the sunroof

the usual reaon the gears strip is because the cables have seized.

It's possible the motor clutch has been disengaged to keep the roof closed.
The rod projecting from the gear spindle moves the gear on an eccentric, thus engages, or disengages it as required.

I will wait for the rain to stop before I strip it . thanks for the info
