Yes I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it but still waiting for delivery as the recovery truck broke down!

I'm in Louth, Lincs.

Finally managed to pressurise the hydraulics today and raise the suspension with the help of an electric drill. No obvious LHM leaks which was nice, but in my excitement I snapped the height control lever trying to lower it. Think it might be seized so another job added to the list!
I also found the pump to regulator pipe is damaged and squashed flat, not enough to stop it working but it will need replacing.
Took a few shots of the underside - apart from some surface rust it looks OK so far...

Don't forget the height control lever needs lifting (can be quite stiff) before moving it from one position to another.
Definitely waxing-time for that underside!

That does look good underneath, but ensure you check the double skinned section at the rear of the front wheel-house area and you may be in for a surprise where the trailing rear subframe mounts meet the chassis rails.

I've a bit of plastics etc I need to unload also. Again though no chrome. They all go Milky unless worked on by someone in the know..

Great find and a proper base spec car even with scarse manual door mirrors indicating an early car registered late as electric mirrors were fitted by J plate..

Thanks gents I'll have a good poke around next time I'm there and see what's lurking behind the muck.
It was dragged out the barn and left on grass for a couple of months last year - I kept driving past thinking it deserves to be rescued! It wouldn't have done it much good but hopefully I caught it in time.
The timing belt kit / waterpump have now been delivered and HT leads are on order. Belt doesn't look too difficult on the how to post - the last one I did was on a BX GTi.
I tried lifting the height lever but probably not enough before sliding it back. I've also noticed the gear selector is cracked - is it an easy job to change?
I looked up the RP number and I think it was manufactured January 1991 but not registered until the September.
It sounds like the door plastics might be tricky to find so I could use some decent ones. They really have been butchered where the chrome was removed in some places.
Depending on the crusty bits there might even be a chance of making it to the Grantham CCC rally!!

The 1905 bx gti 8v engine and these 2.0 8v engines are identical as far as belt changes go.. And use an identical setup.. Pin the cam.. Pin the crank swap the water pump and tensioners and reassemble..

The bx engines though are wet liner where the 2.0 is iorn cast block..
