Hello from madworldland or sometihng. Some of you are already familiar with my story, but some of you aren't so here it is (again):
I'm crazy, so I bought a wonderful XM TCT very well equipped a few months ago. Then a friend of mine got a green one with very little equipment and some work to do. And now... He's got another one! This time it does have hydractive, 13th window and all 4 electric windows. Still has some equipment missing but not really that much. Still the 2.0 injection petrol engine.
How it got here is something we don't discuss because... no... just... no. That's for another day.
What it is for today however, is the fact that the damn thing starts 1st try after 10 years like its a normal thing to do. Sure it needed jumper wires, but that's it. That battery is not XM quality.

Also, for some reason, I can't attach any photos. I'll try again in the morning. However, here you have a photo of the side of the car in ASCIIART

Ok, maybe not, BBCode seems to be weird in this forum, monospace is not recognized and it wont go if size is greater than 1 (yet the error message tells me size bigger than 200)

If pictures are too large it's best to host elsewhere and link to them.

No, don't do that. External hosting sites have a habit of going AWOL or out-of-favour, and forum posts can get stripped of their photos. This is particularly unfortunate when a lot of effort has been put into reporting a repair, or putting together a self-help thread. Many of us can remember the mayhem caused by Photobucket a while ago, which caused photos to go missing from many forums, not just this one. Direct upload to the forum is the best way to keep posts intact.

There is a maximum photo/attachment file size, which I think is around 3 or 5MB. Would be good if this could be confirmed.
Not possible to test this at the moment, because our server is rejecting even tiny attachments/photos.
Admin have been informed several days ago, but no announcement or response posted yet. Disappointing.

Must repeat, though - external hosting is not a good solution, except as a temporary fix.

Normally, a large-file photo can simply be reduced in file size by loading it into Paint, and opting for a Size Reduction; 50% usually does the trick, and the photo will upload. Easy on a PC, but maybe not so on a phone. On FCF, a lot of work has been put into this, and large-file photos are now automatically re-sized (if necessary) as they are uploaded.

I don't normally complain about forum performance, but this does seem to be a recurring problem.

I don't like external sites because they might delete you photos after a while or change the link to them and the post lose its photos.
The code I put is a BBCode, nothing to worry, just an experiment. I converted one photo to ASCIIART so with text only, the photo can be sort of represented. Too bad didn't work because in this forum the font monospace apparently doesn't exist and it doesn't like big fonts either. If not an XM would have appeared out of colored letters :)
(and yes, if you ask, I'm one of those computer weirdos that do code and type on 1984 IBM Model F's and use Linux)

Seeing that it is not possible to upload any photos at the moment, I hosted the photos externally, I'll put them here when is finally possible...

Those are some pretty bad photos, I know, but still haven't got time to go do some since we dropped the car in the garage. If you wonder, we have done close to 850km like that. Man those Renaults are strong, somehow it only drank 7,5L/100km while trailing the XM at 75km/h average.
