So, engine mount time. here is what the 2.0i subframe provides, bearing in mind this is fitted in exactly the right place for the V6 engine mount, and my engine was as top spec as a 2.0i engine can be im not sure what this fitting is for. It has now been removed though. Its worth noting that both V6 and 4 cylinder subrfames are the same, the V6 version has most of the important 2.0 bits like the cutout to accomodate the inline engines sizeable sump and the pressed section for the rear engine mount is all there so its only a case of a little basic fabrication to make either subframe work with either engine.

Now we all know what dreams are made of, this is what V6 engine mounts are made of, well, mine is at least.

A bit of work with the measuring stick, some carefull cardboard template fabrication and a quick session with the wirly spark thrower

and what i hope to be some accurately drilled holes for the retaining bolt

Shopping tomorrow but with any luck saturday after work i can wave the welder over it and get some primer on there ready for engine insertion on sunday.

Gulp, I hope so too Dean! Did you also check against the YOG subframe? Regards, Matthew T.

Nope, your drawing looked like a much better effort than I could muster and besides, it looked about right through a squinted eye and cocked head.

No need to be too accurate anyway, within a couple of mil or 5 will be a job well done.

Thanks Dean and I did recheck the measurements so all should be fine! I wish you all the best of luck with the engine fitting and I might possibly be pulling out another one myself this weekend on the Cobalt car! With regards, Matthew T.

This is why I painted my engine, if I have to spend all my time taking it out and putting it back in I at least want something pretty to look at. I'm also happy the V6 is a lot easier to remove than the 2.0i due to its more compact size, should be fun.

Good luck with yours too!

Transplant complete, plug and play wiring theory is a success, I am nearly home and dry assuming of course it will run and I haven't jeffed something up! There is a fair bit to do of course but all known quantities!
