Looks like a nice example in good condition and could be a bargain. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/163212258819" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Indeed but should I look at C6 instead? Prices seem to be dropping on those too.

Not unless you have a passion and expertise in complex electronics, or an incredibly deep pocket for someone else to sort.
The XM is essentially electro-mechanical, with just a few fairly staightforward ECUs, something it shared with Xantia. After that, C5 (and C6 too) took on board shedloads of electrical and electronic controls, many to replace previous hydraulic and mechanical components. By the time C5 X7 (= C5 III) arrived, C5 had acquired - IMHO - a very questionable level of reliability.
Just my opinion of the way things went; others will have their own thoughts on this, and about C6 in particular, which was built on the C5 platform.
There'll be a lot more info on the C6 forum, c6owners.org.
