Re: sageman's 'barn find' v6 sei s1
What’s the next step regarding my hydrolic leak then take that bottom bolt out and take the plate off ?
Presumeabily there will be a load of fluid come out if I do

Did you manage to check out the regulator's return pipe?

Is the return pipe the one that curl round underneath the regulator before going back up and connects to a different pipe on the way up

Re: sageman's 'barn find' v6 sei s1
Can't actually see ours here; 2.5 engine bay is a bit crowded up front!
There are 3 hydraulic connections to the pressure regulator body.
Two are 3.5mm steel pipes, with a screw-in union (pumped pressure in, regulated pressure out).
The third connection is the Return (to reservoir); it will be a plastic pipe, similar size to the steel ones, that leads away from the regulator and should join up with some others before it heads back to the top of the reservoir.
The plastic pipe may be clear or black, usually 3-4mm diameter, and joins on to the unit with rubber tubular coupling.
It's these couplings that can leak.

Re: sageman's 'barn find' v6 sei s1
The regulators do sometimes leak from the big O-ring behind that end cap. Another option is to send it off for reconditioning, as it will then come back recalibrated to the correct pressure (the pressure tends to droop with age).
There is a brief description of a regulator rebuild here: http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/citro% ... lator.html I know that I have seen a more detailed description on one of the forums, but can't find it at present.

Re: sageman's 'barn find' v6 sei s1
So the oil cooler can just be removed can it how though do it just unscrew
I’m now curtain the hydrolic leak is from the bottom of the regulator
There is defiantly something wrong with the ICV or something related to it
Today I permently fitted the original ECU and started the car with the ICV disconnected electrically and it revs fine ignoring the still sticky throttle however with it connected it runs ok but when you rev it the revs bounce up and down
Do any have handy tyre to wheel arch measurements mine look quite high when on normal but might be because I’ve been looking at it for the last 2 weeks on the floor

To remove cooler:
Unscrew filter
Unbolt the central coupling tube (this also holds the cooler in place)
Lift cooler off
Under the cooler will be an engine flange, which will accept a filter direct.
You will need to replace the original long (cooler fixing) central tube with a shorter one, just long enough to screw into the engine flange and the filter.
The top of the cooler and the engine flange are intentionally the same diameter, and take the same large square-section O-ring that you find on the filter itself.

here is a photo of my Activa's pressure regulator from when i rebuilt it, should help show what you're dealing with.

Re: sageman's 'barn find' v6 sei s1
Hi Ben,
- Your leak on the regulator is most likely the component helpfully marked on Dean's second photograph 'fiber gasket', although I think it is actually a flat rubber washer. I had the same issue on one of my cars and access to change insitu is torturous at best!
- The front ride height is given in the Haynes manual and is around 150mm measured from the sub-frame. If a car has been standing for along period the adjustment will go high and once again I have experienced this issue.
- For the oil cooler removal there is also a tab washer to remove under the filter and no replacement part is required as the extension fitted is an oversize tube.
With regards,
Matthew T.

Re: sageman's 'barn find' v6 sei s1
I think that it is more likely the O-ring on the right (that is where mine leaked), also, the plastic cap is only subject to return-line pressure, so I would not expect a fast leak there.MTXM wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 8:06 pmHi Ben,
