Re: G'day From Australia!
That is all most impressive Jason and you are certainly cracking on! I have not yet removed heads insitu although I gathered it was possible. A particularly interesting lesson about the bent engine valves and luckily you had a spare PRV lump lying around. If I may dare suggest you need to replace those S2 Monte Carlo alloys once the car is in use! With regards, Matthew T. PS. The engine is a 12v Paul not a 24v.

Re: G'day From Australia!
It is available in Japan, I have used it, 7900 yen for 5 litres. Comes in a red colour container from Total.Hydraurincage is excellent stuff. Some countries' Total organisations no longer carry it as shelf-stock, but it is still in production, and Citroen will be able to find a part number for it, and order it for you

Re: G'day From Australia!
Thank you Chris.. I would never have pronounced it like that!
I've no updates today, only some questions if I may.
Firstly, I have been reading about the "Guvna" seal failures on the 4HP18. Given that I haven't gotten to the transmission yet ( I have 10 litres of Dex2 ready), should I just slip some new seals in, Whilst I'm at it..Just to tick that box, or leave well enough alone. I just don't have any idea on the failure rate of these things..Your thought?
Secondly, Does anyone know the colour code for my car? It has had a smack in the front left at some stage, & the boof head has painted over the colour code. Someone on the facebook XM site declared it "Gris Basalt", but I would rather some more opinions before I go off buying paint for it.
Just so you don't have to go looking for a picture of the car...

Re: G'day From Australia!
Matthew T... Yes, The valve "thing" was certainly a lesson for me. You know, I've never seen this before, & I've been fixing cars since I was 15 (I'm 53 now!), so it goes to prove that only a fool says he knows it all!
The series 2 wheels annoying you on a series 1 huh??? The series 2 nose must also irritate. It's funny the the things that get under your skin. Those bits of the outer window seals that are (were) lifting in the picture above were "killing me"..I think it was the next day & glued those back down!
Thanks for the kind words & encouragement guys.. I only get sad looks & people asking me "why??" over here!

Hi mg
My interest is only in series 2 XM's but those series 2 monte carlo wheels are a real PITA.
It is not the looks that upset me.
Very few tyre places over here have the adapter to balance centreless 5 hole alloys.

Re: G'day From Australia!
John makes a good point about the 'centreless' wheels.
Depends where you are located, and a good bit of luck.
Centreless were fitted only by Peugeot and Citroen, it seems, from ?? 2CV onwards, maybe earlier.
A tyre depot seeing these cars regularly might have the adaptor (either the universal one, or separate ones for 3,4,5 hole wheels).
Doesn't help if you're in the middle of nowhere (which I understand you have rather a lot of) and need a new tyre and balancing!

Re: G'day From Australia!
Hi Jason,
In answer to your two earlier queries I would not necessarily disturb the governor seals if the gearbox works okay given the low mileage, but yes definitely change the oil and ideally 2-3 times to completely refresh. The colour looks to me like 'Meteor Grey' rather than 'Gris Basalt being slightly blue but what do others think and I attach of my 1989 car for comparison.
With regards,
Matthew T.

Re: G'day From Australia!
I now think after posting my photo and checking brochures the colour might actually be 'Silicon Grey', which I believe is another name for 'Gris Basalte' and I have a code of ETC. With regards, Matthew T.
