theres some s2 books in there too but ive not looked at them

i assumed these are common and anyone who collects and/or fixes these themselves would have a set this is how it is with reliants anyway......am i wrong

The workshop manuals and wiring diagrams were only available to dealers and most have now been discarded, so they are quite rare. I think that there are one or two fairly complete sets among the members here, but the rest of us have to get by with various unofficial scanned copies that can be found on the internet. This is also true of other PSA models of the period. From about 1999, PSA makes the data available on-line, but the XM (and S1 Xantia) missed out.

Unfortunately the data available on the internet is rather patchy except for S2 wiring diagrams which can nearly all be found.

The mice have chewed through the body movement sensor leads. Observing the colours and tracers should enable an easy fix.

It's only a low pressure return (back to the reservoir), so a good improvised repair will suffice.

Due to several reasons (including a trip to amsterdam (sadly no XMs although I did see everything else bar a DS big Citroen wise)) I haven’t been able to fit the pressure regulator until today
I connected it all up enough so I could start the engine to check for leaks

Car wouldnt start turned over fine and would splutter sometimes

Tried several small things including changing the ECU just in case but nothing

So out came the plugs which were soaking with fuel and The cylinders were flooded
Cleaned and checked the plugs all working fine
Put everything back put the battery on charge had some grub and tried to start it again

It took about 30 seconds of cranking but did eventually fire into life and ran fine afterwoulds first time it’s done this not even after sitting in its barn for 10 years was there anywhere close to this trouble so what’s the cause do you think

My first thought is the ICV which is still unplugged due to its eratic behaviour reving the car up and down at idle although I think this is due to another fault and not the ICV itself as it seemed to work fine when I tested it on a battery although a bad ICV isn’t something I’ve ruled out

My main question really is what else could have caused what I suspect is flooding or is this something that can only really be found out by plugging it in

Pressure regulator seems fine now

Leaking injectors or some sort of ignition system failure?

Don’t think it was ignition related I could hear a sparking sound while cranking

Although how normal that is I don’t know and I was on my own so couldn’t pinpoint it

I do plan on having the injectors checked replaced etc although I’m getting someone to do it not something I know enough about to want to do myself

If you could hear the HT Spark, it was shorting to Gnd, not reaching the plugs.

Run the engine at night and look for leaking HT flashes.

I suspect it was dampness caused by condensation.
