Wanted: battery box

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Wanted: battery box

Post by sageman » Tue Dec 04, 2018 1:42 pm

Well since It seems I got scammed out nearly £100 I’m again looking for some parts to get the XM through its MOT
I’ve orded some windscreen washed pumps they’re on their way
But I need a battery box with its battery strap and if possable the lid
O/S (drivers side) indicator/fog light unit (broken glass)
And the side light unit on the same side for the same reason
Can anyone help
Thanks

If you cannot source locally then probably all except the indicator/fog light as my stuff is from Mk 2's.
Will send a PM.

There you go, you have seen one!

I am not sure that they were always fitted, with the tallest batteries fitted, the lid will not fit.

Did the batteries ever get bigger than 096?
IIRC, battery covers weren't fitted as standard to certain models; put me right, though.

I believe Series one car batteries never had lids Chris and I have only ever seen them on S2 V6 and 2.5td. With regards, Matthew T.

That is correct just fitted to 2.5 and Mk 2 V6's only.
There are separate designs for each model as the battery lead positions vary.
These lids start off with long plastic clips which break off easily.
Only ever supplied one quite a few years ago and was told it was unsatisfactory because of the broken clips.
