Thanks Guys, This will be invaluable to my auto guru/electrician when we come to replace this wretched panel. Last few days have been spent doing the equivalent of a full service and replacing anything that needed bringing up to snuff. Actually the only replacements have been the track rod ends, other than that it's good to go. When I left J&N Autos at lunch time they were just taking her off to the land transport office to complete registration. Every time a vehicle changes hands here it is physically examined to ensure its what the book says it is, that it still has the same engine and no added turbos or whatever and that any accessories are legally acceptable (Colonel Bogie horns & the like are banned, for example)

Chris,

partly. I don't remove 5. I just pull it a little bit forward (just as much as the steering wheel in the outmost position allows, no forcing or flexing at all) and reach behind. That's enough for me to get the units out. I only removed the full 5 once in my life because I needed to patch a hole in it (previous owner put a tow hitch telltale there). I have since replaced it with a perfect one (and moved the telltale to a lower position, to the part of the lower shroud that stays in place, using a proper LED socket).

Great Post Chris
Andrew Preview will be sorely missed. Still think of 'Get me to the Church on Time' whenever his name is mentioned
