Newbies

Post by leonlc » Thu Oct 15, 2020 6:24 pm

Hi All, :D

My Dad has just bought a silver 2.0 16v 95 model auto. Very tidy condition with full service history and documentation from almost new.
His plan is to only drive it in the summer by taking small trips with it, renovate a little as the car is over 20yrs old, small fixes, light services and polish of course. Hopefully we will learn from and share to this community also.

We have tried to find a Haynes Workshop Manual but it seems they are all sold out and we have no idea when a reprint will be produced. Does anyone here have one we could purchase or download :?:

Thanks in advance,
Leonlc

Hi and welcome!
There are usually used copies of the Haynes manual on the web, including Ebay and Amazon.
Haynes is a good start, but there are plenty more detailed sources of XM repair and maintenance info - just ask when you get stuck.
If you're new to hydropneumatic Citroens, take at look at the website "tramontana.hu" (it's in English), where there's a host of introductory and useful info, including a complete XM electrical Circuit Diagram.

Where are you and the car based, by the way?

Hi Chris,

We came across the Peter Russek manual on Ebay and may go for that version as all the Haynes currently listed do not cover the 2.0 16V motor. Not sure of the quality of the information so that's why we thought we should ask here first.
I should have mentioned we are in Sweden, Uppsala.
I tried tramontana.hu but that seems to be a boating website of some sort?

My mistake, should be http://citroen.tramontana.co.hu/en/the- ... ical-guide.
XM ride not quite that boat-like!

Gabor's Circuit Diagram Project is also on our site, and this is the latest version. Also covers the 2.0i.

The Peter Russek manuals are very detailed.
Harder to read through than Haynes being smaller size and having illustrations, rather than photographs, but will definitely contain all the information you require.

Your car looks to be in good condition. Silver is a good colour for a Series 2.

Welcome and good luck with your XM adventures. I have a friend & colleauge in Upsalla: it sounds like a wonderful university town to live in. It picques my interest as I also adore my life living in Cambridge, in England.

Thank you @Dieselman. I really like the silver colour too. Except on misty mornings. The profile of the car is so sleek and with all the windows it almost camouflages in misty weather.
