I'm sure that connector suffers on many older Xm.
The reason it passed the continuity test is because a Dmm only tests at a few Milli-Amps of load.
Always test a circuit under a load similar to the one it will see in service.
Use a headlamp bulb as a load test. 55w / 12v = 4.6A.

Nice fix, back to the correct operation, with extending the life of the Ign switch due to no longer taking starter solenoid current.

Iirc, the glow plug feed also passes through that connector.
Might be worth testing the voltage drop when the glow-plugs are on.

And then this happened..

Driving back against strong winds and rain the drivers side wiper arm suddenly flopped off the drivers side of the window... I managed to get into a layby safely and in that moment it stopped raining

So quick solution remove the drivers wiper arm, reposition the passenger arm upwards a bit and put the longer drivers wiper blade on the arm.

CX and bx like wiper.. But.. It worked and I got home..

So I assume the link arm nylon ball joint has worn and dropped off.. Can't really complain. Its most likely its original and after 263k done a lot of wiping I'm sure

Racing styleee...

Next you'll be fitting lowering springs and a rear spoiler...;)

The ball joints have probably never been lubricated, so did well to last this long.

So this battery power loss is being a real pain in the preherial now.... I've got the meter reading right down to 0.01 on the set scale.. And still within 3 days almost flat battery..
IMG-20220301-WA0000.jpeg
I noticed the alarm ecu was pulling 170 so I've for now left it unplugged..
IMG-20220301-WA0002.jpeg
So.. Short of fitting a main OFF switch to fully isolate the battery I'm running short of ideas. Unless the battery I bought really is faulty of poor quaity..

Is it charging fully?
Charge it, leave it, see if it fails.
Charge again, disconnect, see if it fails.
Charge it, load test it and see how quickly it drops below 10v.

What do I use to load test it? Headlights on? How long before it should drop with them on.?

Try starting a few times without letting the glow plugs warm (Eg, no "starting").....starter motors load the battery as designed (load), lights "drain" slowly.

Or, disconnect the main fuel supply to the injectors ?

Right. Today's findings...

Engine running no loads.. On Idle. 13.7v.. Which doesn't increase with engine revs.
Headlights on.. Blower motor on.. Engine Idle 13.4v no change with revs.

Stop engine. Volts drop to 12.4 to 12.5v.. Locked. Bonnet lock closed to imitate closed bonnet.

Upon checking the amp draw at the main connector plug by the battery there's still 0.06 draw on 10a range.

The. Xm hasn't moved much since the price hike in fuel..

But with a week sat away for northen I thought I'd tackle what we need to at the rear. Fit c5 saucer spheres to the rear and bleed the rear brakes up..

The saucer spheres fit in the space no problem...

And a quick bleed up of the rear brakes saw a vast improvement in braking power..

I assume they are Hydractive spheres?
What volume and pressure are they...iirc C5 spheres are 385cc.

Is the plug in the end of a saucer sphere screwed in, or somehow welded in after gassing. Hard to see how it can be traditionally welded, it would need to be done under pressure and there would be a risk of heat transfer to the sphere, causing the membrane to melt. It's possible they are friction welded in.
