just been to the garage and had a good chat about them

basically said, if it's going to be 700 or less i'll likely get them to do it, it makes the most sense with it being there already

Two gaiters, two drop links, a return pipe, a number plate, rear exhaust box, rear brakes, decent bulbs in the headlights and a bit of welding. £700!!! Seen you coming.

That's less than £200, of which you can do the vast majority yourself, plus the welding.

The rust is the only real issue, where exactly is it, the outside of the sill, or the inside beside the fuel tank.
If it's the inside they will want to remove the fuel tank to reduce risk of fire while welding. These areas can be welded without removing the fuel tank, but a garage is unlikely to do it like that.

Unless you already have the flaring tool and skill to make a brake pipe have the garage do that, unless the correct one is available. The pipes are specific for Abs/No-Abs cars.
If you have an additicon to buying tools and want the experience then this is a job for you to do. 4.75mm (3/16") pipe, DIN (metric) tool.

Exhaust rear box...easy.
Drop link rubber boots...easy.
Number plates, either new plates that conform, or if it's just the Citroen chevrons at the left side, stick GB, or UK stickers over them.

Fit halogen headlamp bulbs instead of xenon burners will take a bit of wiring, but simple enough. I take it the aftermarket lamp units will take halogen bulbs and garage are ok with that.

I thought you had already done the left front strut return pipe.

Steering rack gaiters, a garage will fit neoprene ones they can stretch on with the rack in situ. They won't last, but will get this and next years Mot.
Fitting Oem plastic gaiters is really a rack out job, but they last 25+ years.
There is a chance these can be fitted with the rack mounted after removing the passenger side track rod. Still very awkward to clip onto the rack body.

The welding is a bit of a dissapointment, but otherwise a pretty short list and nothing you can't do yourself, assuming you don't have welding facility.

I take it you purchased the car knowing it was a project car, not one ready for the road.

I doubt the garage will do all that, including supplying parts, for £200, but you should be clear of £700.

The Headlights have been heavily modified and butchered do a replacement set is the only way to sort that out..

I'd of said the rack boot are the biggest job, I've could not see how to get the rack out of a 2.1td easilly even with the engine in place.. I still struggled with engine out on our S2 2.1td

Got new plates, replacement lamp units etc all ready now

yes the headlights are uttery ruined by the conversion to HID, seems the original reflector has been cut out to fit them which is very dissapointing

work is getting staerted on the 23rd May, so should be done that week

dropping the headlamps in to the garage on monday, it makes sense for them to do the work due to the car being there anyway

corrosion is on the outer sill, inner sill etc is still solid, it's been repaired poorly in the past

i've decided to give this car the love it deserves

this isn't going to be a quick project (well on the road quite quickly as i'd like to use it and take some miles off the C5)

but i'm going to get the bodywork sorted, as it's really not very good.....quite bad in some places

going to be a lot of work but i'm prepared for it

That's the best approach, get it on the road then gradually fettle it as you go.

Xm are exceptionally good at making miles of tarmac dissapear under the bonnet. No point having it unless it is turning the wheels.

As you drive along in the Xm you will notice other drivers jiggling up and down in their seats, while thinking to yourself...they think that's normal... :?

first main job will be a cambelt and water pump

now, i'm going to wait a month before doing that as i want to do a few hundred miles and make sure all is well etc

I think mechanically it won't be far off sorted soon, bit i will find out once it's back and i can use it

Sif you have solved the water leak get anti freeze in ASAP. Don't run it too long without.. As the blocks do rust up quite quickly and the rust can cause head gasket issue and reduce the smaller water ways etc..
