Citroen XM V6 (ES9) year 2000 Degassing tank

Post by Mckone83 » Fri Jun 19, 2026 12:24 pm

Anyone know where to find degassing tank. My cars tank just exploded :D I red that someone has made these tanks out of metal. Havent found this part nowhere.
Before it exploded the transmission went to error mode. Felt like driving winter mode

After being NFP for many years, Citroen were actually listing these in their classic spares catalogue last year, but they seem to have disappeared again. Maybe they just found a few NOS parts when clearing out a warehouse?

Another source of metal replacements? https://creative-inox.fr/index.php?id_p ... &id_lang=1

I take it these are simply a pot with angled connections added and just a void inside.

Yes, the coolant is swirled by the angle of the pipes at the side and air exits via the pipe at the top to the header tank.

Here is a home made replacement: https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/view ... =3&t=57629

There was a compatible part (in black plastic) used by Renault on their version of the ES9, I don't think they are available either.

Nice job there by stickfinger.

It makes sense that the plastic welding is the fracture point of the original, in which case I wonder if the original units could be glued back together with an additional clamp at the joint.

If a cooling tank splits, I would probably epoxy it and add a screwed together clamp, for surety.
